SUMMER 2025
PULSE MAGAZINE
This goal of this project is to create a magazine that includes a cover, a table of contents, a feature article, and an interview article that focuses on a specific topic.
Pulse is a social justice magazine that brings awareness to the lack of equal access in healthcare.
WORDMARK DESIGN PROCESS
The wordmark was created to communicate urgency while retaining an element of intrigue that inspires curiosity and a sense of hope for a better future in healthcare. Through rounds of exploration and refinement, an italicized, lowercase style was selected to subtly enhance curiosity, with an EKG pulse integrated into the mark to emphasize immediacy.
FINAL WORDMARK
VISUAL SYSTEM
A visual system was developed to keep the main aspects of the magazine consistent from volume to volume.ARTICLE SPREAD ITERATIONS
Front Cover
The front cover was created using a collage of graphics from the magazine. The graphics were physically printed, cut, rearranged, and scanned back into Photoshop for editing. After applying the grid system to the collage, the wordmark and the typography were added.
Table of Contents
The initial iterations of the TOC were done in quick 15-minute sprints. Taking highlights from each of the sprints, these elements were then combined to create a unifying spread.
Feature Article
Experimented with the concept of a divide by creating gaps between shapes and the concept of bridging by intertwining sections of texts with the images.
